Design Tips by Event Type

Not sure what to put in your newspaper? Here's what works for each type of event.

Wedding Newspaper

  • Use a 4-8 page tabloid layout
  • Include: love story, photos, schedule, wedding party bios, fun facts/games
  • Stick to 2-3 fonts max for a clean editorial look
  • Leave generous margins — newsprint absorbs ink slightly wider than screen preview

Real Estate Listing Paper

  • 4-page layout works great for 5-10 listings
  • Use a grid layout: photo + price + beds/baths + description per listing
  • Include market stats section and your agent branding on every page
  • Design it as a template you update weekly — keep the layout, swap the listings

Corporate Event Paper

  • Lead with a bold headline and hero image
  • Include founder letter, product details, team spotlights, event schedule
  • Use your brand colors and fonts for consistency
  • 8-12 pages for product launches, 4 pages for simpler announcements

How to Export Your Design for Print

From Canva

  1. Click Share > Download
  2. Select PDF Print as the file type
  3. Check "Crop marks and bleed"
  4. Select CMYK color profile (Pro feature; RGB works too — we convert)
  5. Click Download

From InDesign

  1. Go to File > Export
  2. Choose Adobe PDF (Print)
  3. Select the PDF/X-1a:2001 preset (best for print)
  4. Under Marks & Bleeds, check "Use Document Bleed Settings"
  5. Click Export

From Google Docs

  1. First, set page size: File > Page Setup > 11 x 17
  2. Go to File > Download > PDF Document
  3. The PDF will match your page setup dimensions
  4. Note: Google Docs exports at 96 DPI — for best quality, use Canva or InDesign
