San Diego Print Works started with a simple idea: in a world drowning in screens, there's still nothing like holding your story in your hands.
We're a print shop in San Ysidro, on the southern edge of San Diego, specializing in one thing: custom newspapers for events. Weddings, corporate launches, anniversaries, festivals, and every celebration that deserves more than a social media post.
Our RISO ComColor press uses soy-based inks — no petroleum, no toxic chemicals. Our newsprint comes from recycled fibers. We chose this technology because printing should create memories, not landfill.

Our Commitment to Sustainability
We chose newsprint and RISO technology deliberately. Here's what that means for the environment:
- Newsprint has a 73% recycling rate — the highest of any paper product (American Forest & Paper Association).
- 80-100% of newsprint is made from recycled fiber, dramatically reducing the need for virgin wood pulp.
- Newsprint biodegrades in 2-6 weeks, compared to months or years for coated and laminated papers.
- RISO soy-based inks are 100% petroleum-free and contain no volatile organic compounds (VOCs).
- Newsprint production uses up to 80% less water than manufacturing coated or glossy paper stocks.
- Carbon footprint is ~0.45 kg CO2/kg — roughly half that of coated paper (~0.9 kg CO2/kg).
